LOQ For Research

DESCRIPTION

The Learning Orientation Questionnaire (LOQ) is a survey that identifies an individual’s orientation to learn and measures learning ability—from a whole-person perspective. The research construct describes dominant psychological factors that influence learning. These factors suggest how learners want or intend to approach learning - generally or situationally. This whole-person perspective (including affective, conative, social, and cognitive factors) proposes a three-factor construct that considers the learner's

  1. Emotional investment in learning (Self-Motivation)
  2. Strategic self-directedness and effort (Self-Direction)
  3. Independence or learning autonomy (Automony)

The Learning Orientation (LOQ) is available for university-based research for free. Faculty or students may receive written permission to use the LOQ by contacting Kelley Graham (info below)

REQUISITES FOR USE

1 At the beginning of the study, provide an abstract describing the research, including study purpose and hypothesis.

2 At the end of the study, provide a second abstract describing study purpose, methods, analysis, results, and discussion. Please send the final abstract within two months of receiving the final LOQ scores.

3. You will receive a hard copy of the 25-item Learning Orientation Questionnaire (request free research version) via email after your request has been received. You can administer this survey to a hundred (100) users at any time within three months. Additional free licenses can be requested. You need to request the LOQ when you are ready to use it.

SCORING

You need to request the LOQ scoring spreadsheet when you are ready to score the LOQ results. Enter the LOQ scores for each user per survey item on the LOQ scoring Spreadsheet.  Once you've entered the scores for up to 100 users, you submit the spreadsheet for scoring.

REPORTING

Scoring takes 1-2 weeks. Scores are returned to you in a spreadsheet. An LOQ Interpretation Guide is available when you are logged into this site.
